Mariyam Shany Ahmed, (more commonly known as “Manje”) is a self taught mixedmedia artist, mostly working with watercolors, acrylics and inks Her works tap into

the relationships between nature, feminine beauty and folklore, often featuring pensive portraits of women surrounded by lush flora,fauna and underwater creatures;

awash in vibrant colors and elaborate details. Manje is an admirer of both old and new art styles, and is inspired by the vast majority of contemporary artists

from all over the world. Her works are a tribute to cultural experiences and historical stories she have seen and heard over the years. She has participated

in various international art competitions and several art exhibitions over the past 8 years in the Maldives and various states in Malaysia. When she is not painting,

Manje divides her time between making wearable art on shoes and bags, designing and painting murals, as well as experimenting with making kids wear for her one

year old daughter. Manje was born in the Maldives, and today lives and works in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as an independent visual artist and illustrator.
